Kaizen is providing technical assistance in the area of Human and Institutional Capacity Development (HICD) to the PREIA project in addition to targeted senior/mid-level short-term personnel. The project is working to further the development of Pakistan’s trade sector by improving Pakistan’s competitiveness in international markets. Kaizen’s Human Capacity Advisor is managing a PREIA initiative to increase participation of women in the trade Sector. This initiative is working with the GoP, the private sector, and trade support institutions to bring greater economic benefit to women through increased participation in export trade. PREIA is developing approaches to influence programming and policy at the national level to address gender based constraints to trade and is promoting efforts to mainstream gender into trade-related policies, processes and activities. PREIA is building human and institutional capacity in the following ways:

  • Increase capacity of Pakistani institutions and actors to assess policy, negotiate agreements, improve regulations, and engage with stakeholders on trade.
  • Improve government capacity to better analyze economic and business opportunities that emerge.
  • Strengthen dialogues among the business community, academia, media, government policymakers, and other stakeholders.
  • Strengthen capacity of FBR/Customs and other border control agencies to implement global best practices and improve compliance.
  • Networking and outreach with women’s groups and influential community members to increase women participation in trade and policy design.
