The Kaizen Company is leading a consortium of organizations that comprise the Technical Assistance (TA) Facility for the Securing Water for Food: Grand Challenge for Development (SWFF), which aims to source and accelerate technological and business model innovations that will enable the production of more food with less water and/or make more water available for food production, processing, and distribution. As an incubator for water innovations, Kaizen’s TA Facility is implementing the milestone based funding, providing acceleration services and ensuring financial, contractual, and reporting compliance of all awardees.

The consortium’s multifaceted support includes a flexible service to meet the needs of the awardees by synthesizing expertise and resources from a diverse network of private sector innovation support organizations. The Kaizen Company is supporting awardees of the Grand Challenge to realize the full potential of their innovations through needs-based technical assistance, commercialization/scaling advisory services, financial management, monitoring and evaluation assistance, and partnerships/network building.

Examples of assistance include:

  • Technical/Scaling assistance: technology development, business strategy, supply chain, market access, and commercialization.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) support: maintaining an online reporting platform, producing and conducting trainings and related materials, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of awardee M&E reporting.
  • Financial management support: financial compliance and project management training.
  • Partnership support: introductions to local networks and potential investors.
