Smart Solutions for Smart Cities Reverse Trade Mission

In an effort to promote US businesses and business interests abroad, The Kaizen Company planned and organized two Reverse Trade Missions (RTMs) on behalf of the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA). In cooperation with the Government of India, USTDA and Kaizen brought delegations comprised of municipal government officials from the states of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh to learn about the US Smart City sector and American businesses who offer Smart City products and services.

Over the course of two five-day visits, the delegations each visited leading Smart Cities to meet with local and state government officials and private sector firms to learn about the technologies, services, and financing strategies local governments are using to adapt a smart approach to urban development. The purpose of the RTM is to facilitate relationships that promote the export of American goods and services and the successful implementation of smart urban development strategies in India’s cities.

The delegations visited cities across the country, including Washington, DC; Boston, MA; Pittsburgh, PA; Austin, TX; and Denver, CO, to meet with a wide range of consulting businesses, technology companies, and engineering firms including Accenture, KPMG, Jacobs Engineering, and Thompson Reuters, as well as municipal government staff. Working closely with USTDA, Kaizen planned, promoted, and produced business roundtables, recruited organizations to host and sponsor site visits, oversaw all RTM logistics, and evaluated the impact of each delegation on the promotion of US business and implementation of smart urban development strategies in India.
