The Kaizen Company (Kaizen) is a subcontractor to Chemonics International on BRDG, which supports USAID missions to strengthen state legitimacy, promote public management, and improve strategic planning and policy reforms. Kaizen brings our institutional strengthening and sustainability core competencies to the Chemonics consortium. We anticipate assisting governments and their citizens in achieving legitimacy, accountability, transparency, and responsiveness, and in ensuring that successes are sustained locally beyond the completion of individual projects.
General, Business, Trade and Investment IQC (GBTI II), USAID, 2006 – 2013
As a subcontractor to Chemonics International, The Kaizen Company provides technical expertise in support of the IQC’s objective of promoting economic growth in countries that are transitioning from aid to trade, and advancing their economies toward open, competitive markets. The Kaizen Company anticipates using our institutional transformation approaches and techniques to spark locally driven approaches to strengthening public and private sector institutions critical to a country’s economic growth prospects.
Regional Democratic Initiatives (REDI) Justice IQC, USAID, 2006 – 2011
As a subcontractor to DPK Consulting, The Kaizen Company stands ready to provide its services and expertise to strengthen the justice sector and promote local governance in the Middle East Region. Initiatives under the REDI IQC include administration of criminal justice, decentralization, and media development. The Kaizen Company anticipates empowering government organizations and employees in the region to strengthen the institutions in which they work through the application of our Sector Transformation Program to the Justice sector.
Jordan – Sustainable Achievement of Business Expansion and Quality (SABEQ) Project, USAID, 2006 – 2011
The Kaizen Company, a subcontractor to Deloitte Consulting, LLP, is playing a critical role on this USAID/Jordan economic opportunities flagship project. As the lead implementer of all SABEQ cross-cutting initiatives, Kaizen is supporting government agencies and high-potential business sectors fundamentally strengthen organizations and institutions, improve workforce development, better integrate women in the economy, and develop and promote a more dynamic economic growth mindset for the country. Due to Kaizen’s initial performance, SABEQ leadership has asked the Kaizen Company to take the lead on SABEQ’s cross-cutting activities to support mission-critical business associations. Kaizen will also pilot our highly innovative ongoing transformation services (OTS) on SABEQ, leveraging information technology to expand the breadth, depth, and overall sustainability of SABEQ assistance.
Iraq – National Capacity Development in Public Management (TATWEER) Project, USAID, 2006 – 2011
The Kaizen Company, working with prime contractor Management Systems International, is currently supporting Government of Iraq efforts to build its public management capacity in five core functional areas: Human Capital Management, Strategic Planning, Communications and Leadership, Financial Management, and ICT Management. Kaizen is focused on introducing the concepts of government performance assessment and ongoing, internally-driven improvement in these areas. Kaizen is also working to institutionalize ministerial reform teams and support the development of a national agency for government performance.
Pakistan: Empowering Pakistan: FIRMS Project, USAID, 2009-2013
The Kaizen Company (Kaizen), as a subcontractor to Chemonics International, is establishing Sector Support Networks (SSNs), a variation on Kaizen’s Professional Communities program. Sector Support Networks support private sector professionals working in selected sectors to enhance the regional and global competitiveness of Pakistani companies. SSNs consist of both live and virtual events. Live events, such as forums and breakout groups, provide an opportunity for private sector professionals to convene in person to learn about valuable tools, discuss emerging best practices, hear from top local and international experts, highlight local experiences and fortify personal relationships. The virtual component of Sector Support Networks is the Kaizen tailored KaizenConnect, an interactive web 2.0 portal, which is designed to enhance knowledge capture, information sharing, and communication among private sector professionals. Kaizen is also developing solutions to build the capacity of associations, chambers, and higher educational institutions to increase women’s economic participation by aligning services with needs, strengthening organizational structures, and creating financial sustainability. The goal of Kaizen’s assistance is to develop baseline data on professional women and entrepreneurs in Pakistan and to develop mechanisms to allow women to gain access to higher level resources that will open doors to new economic opportunities.
Jordan: Rule of Law Program, USAID 2008 – 2013
The Kaizen Company in partnership with DPK Consulting, the prime contractor for USAID Rule of Law Program in Jordan, is providing support to increase the capacity of the Jordanian judiciary and Ministry of Justice. KC will seek to improve the services that the judiciary delivers to the private sector; to establish and improve judicial associations and to encourage the increased use of mediation. Additionally, KC is ascertaining the viability of empowering local judicial sector professionals to take leadership in promoting and sustaining reform through Professional Communities (PCs). The PCs create a space for motivated judicial sector professionals to further advance their skills, coalesce around ideas, and assume thought leadership.
West Bank and Gaza: Palestinian Authority Capacity Enhancement (PACE), USAID, 2008 – 2011
West Bank and Gaza: Palestinian Authority Capacity Enhancement (PACE), October 2008 to September 2011(USAID, $986,458) Under the recently awarded PACE program the Kaizen Company is supporting the prime contractor, Chemonics International, Inc., to enable a more professional, competent public administration and civil service within the Palestinian Authority. Kaizen will employ its flagship service, the Sector Transformation Program (STP), to strengthen the core functions of key ministries and public sector institutions, including leadership, strategic planning, personnel management and administration. Using the STP approach Kaizen will focus assistance on reform-minded mid- to senior-level Palestinian officials in the West Bank, giving them the necessary tools to assess, critique, and improve the institutions in which they work.
Indonesia – Trade Assistance Project (ITAP), USAID, 2005 – 2008
The Kaizen Company, working with prime contractor Chemonics International, is supporting Indonesia’s Ministry of Trade efforts to apply government management best practices. Areas of support include an organizational assessment and restructuring plan, diverse human resource training and management support, and the establishment of an international trade liaison coordinating office. This liaison office will support the ministry to better utilize its internationally based trade promotion centers and trade attachés.
West Bank and Gaza: NETHAM (Justice and Enforcement Program in the West Bank and Gaza), USAID 2008
The Kaizen Company is supporting prime contractor, DPK Consulting, to build respect for the rule of law in the West Bank and Gaza through targeted technical assistance. Specifically, Kaizen is developing a strategy and long-term action plan for the newly established Media and Public Relations Department at the Supreme Judicial Council.
Afghanistan – Accelerating Sustainable Agriculture Program (ASAP), USAID, 2006 – 2010
As a subcontractor to Chemonics International, The Kaizen Company will support the ASAP project’s efforts to transform Afghanistan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock (MAIL) into a more effective organization, and to improve its capacity to provide enhanced services to Afghanistan’s farmers and develop policies and regulations that improve the ability to produce and market crops.
