Kaizen implemented the Haiti Professional Learning Communities for Learning Communities to support school administrators and principals in Haiti.
Schools in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, faced challenges related to finance, record, physical resource, and human resource management as well as curriculum development and donor relations. Kaizen, in partnership with the Haitian relief organization J/P HRO (jphro.org), implemented the Haiti Professional Learning Communities for Learning Communities for School Administrators project to support administrators and principals of schools in the Delmas 32 neighborhood of Port-au-Prince.
Highlights
- Professional community formed to empower school leadership
- Administrators of more than 30 schools shared reform insights and solutions
Kaizen established and managed a professional community that brought together administrators and principals who faced similar challenges and opportunities and supported them in identifying and addressing shared priorities. Additionally, the community allowed participants to access knowledge and expertise to accelerate solutions and learn from each other.
The community was characterized by an inclusive, peer-to-peer approach with an agenda of reform topics driven by the administrators and principals. Kaizen facilitated a regular series of roundtables and other events to address topics including budgeting and financial management, psychosocial support to students, record management, Ministry of Education protocol and regulations, physical resource and human resource management, curriculum development, and donor relations. Community members encompassed more than 30 schools, each of which had between one and four individuals with administrative responsibilities.
