When partner countries are emerging from conflict or are at risk of becoming fragile or unstable states, they require an integrated approach to peacebuilding and stabilization.

At Kaizen, we believe building and empowering local structures is a key step to address and mitigate the root causes of conflict, instability, and violence. Areas of focus may include land disputes, intra- and intercommunal violence, border insecurity, external malevolent actors, and limited rule of law.

Kaizen identifies the appropriate actors in designated geographies, helps build their capacity to resolve disputes and address the root causes of instability, and incentivizes them to work together to resolve their security concerns by providing in-kind support. By focusing on conflict resolution at the local level by including and empowering existing sources of traditional and formal authority, Kaizen supports an inclusive approach that addresses root causes of violence and instability in a lasting and sustainable manner.
