Supporting Organizational Development in Ethiopia

Podium with USAID emblem with the Ethiopian and USA flags in the background

Kaizen supported USAID Missions in Ethiopia and Djibouti to advance and improve organizational development.

Following years of organizational challenges, USAID Missions in Ethiopia and Djibouti needed cutting-edge, research-, and evidence-based approaches to organizational development (OD) that set teams up for success. Additionally, USAID sought to revitalize a shared, pervasive organizational ethos that successfully directs individual and team behaviors to support broad-based goals and objectives. Specifically, the Missions needed support in leadership development, talent optimization, integration for impact, strategic OD, and change management.

Highlights

  • Cached culture by training coaches across the Missions
  • Strengthened on- and off-boarding processes and practices

Through a partnership with the prime contractor, Social Impact, Kaizen led an integrated approach to Organizational Development Activity (ODA) engagement with USAID/Ethiopia and USAID/Djibouti based on a shared vision of enhanced organizational performance and accelerated programmatic results. Kaizen supported Mission progression in operationalizing their leadership charter and designing and implementing targeted OD interventions.

This approach addressed the challenges in institutional strengthening within USAID. Kaizen offered holistic support to the Missions to increase organizational effectiveness, addressing not only the individual behaviors, knowledge, attitudes, and practices but also the organizational systems and dynamics in which these individuals work.
